I went on to take colorful film photographs of tidepool creatures and fish. In one series of photographs I overlaid a poem by my marine biologist sister, Corlis Baranyk. Her artwork can be seen at http://cbaranyk.googlepages.com This is her poem: Cyanobacteria was here first In Australia forming stromalites New ground no creature had before traversed Momentarily met by trilobites Oxygen from algae filled the thin air Coelacanths in the deep began to stir Creatures swam by eyeing prey with fixed stares Some tricked by biolumenexcent lures Life unparalleled in diversity Fins turned to arms Terra fauna explored Though not on land To the ocean still moored I couldn't think of more beautiful words to go with these photographs. |
